A gentle weekly class in the moving art of breath, balance and stillness, held every Thursday evening at the Barnbow Social Club. All ages and abilities welcome.

Slow movement, steady breath, a quiet mind.

Tai Chi is a centuries-old practice of slow, continuous movement paired with relaxed breathing. There is nothing to keep up with and nothing to strain against; you simply move, gently, at your own pace. Over the weeks it builds balance and strength, eases tension, and leaves most people feeling calmer and sleeping better. No equipment, no experience, and no special clothing needed. All you need are flat comfortable shoes, loose fitting clothing and an open mind.

Your instructor

Martin Day.

Martin has practised Tai Chi for over twenty-five years and qualified as an instructor in 2018. His classes are calm, patient and unhurried, built around the idea that the practice should meet you where you are, whatever your age or fitness.

Expect a friendly, low-pressure hour: a little warm-up, slow flowing forms broken down step by step, and time to simply breathe. Come as you are, go relaxed and refreshed.

The school is called Kuaile De Rizi — "Happy Days" in Mandarin.
